Rocky Hill Design and Rocky Hill Publishing are owned and operated by Al Trescot in Damariscotta, Maine. Rocky Hill Design has provided Graphic Design services for printed materials since about 1998. Al's business started by creating large format posters and Art reproductions but took off in the direction of books, brochures and advertising. It also took Al back to a real love; photography.

Al Trescot, (Rocky Hill Publishing), has now produced his second pictorial ode to the coast of Maine. Four years in the making, this volume is very much a reflection of the author's unbridled enthusiasm for capturing, in stunning and intimate images, the moods, the weathers and the full palette of the mid-coast Maine he has grown to love. After a foreword by Robert E. Ives, Al Trescot simply lets his lens paint his story - his wanderings, his discoveries and, most especially, the comforting familiarity of this place

"Twelve Miles from the Rest of the World"

by Barnaby Porter and Al Trescot, is a portrait of a Maine tidal river as observed, experienced and "Sketched" for over thirty five years. It is a very intimate view from the bottom up, revealing underwater vignettes, life along the shore and the surrounding landscape as a continuum.

twelve miles from the rest of the world

The Damariscotta River is a drowned river valley of great age. While the author celebrates the river of today as a self-contained world of rich diversity, he at the same time tries to put the short history of our tenure here into perspective and encourages the reader to imagine how the river has evolved over the centuries.

We strongly urge you to first take "the grand tour" and enjoy the view, then to spend some time pondering the moods, the seasons and the miracles that make the Damariscotta River the natural treasure it is.
